Meth Discovered and Subject Arrested On March 8th, 2010, the Springfield Police Department and the Summit County Drug Unit found evidence of an individual manufacturing Methamphetamine. The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to 2305 East Waterloo Road for a dispute involving several parties. While responding to the location, the officer observed a white van leaving the location. The van matched the description given by the caller that reported the dispute. The van left the scene at a high rate of speed and a marked police unit attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The van turned into a driveway on Kubler Trail. The driver of the van quickly exited the vehicle and was stopped by the officer. The driver was identified as Mark Gentile. It was discovered that he had an expired driver’s license and he was taken into police custody. Discovered in his possession were several coffee filters containing a white powder residue. Gentile later admitted that the powder was Methamphetamine. The aforementioned van was found to contain the chemical components, chemical waste, and the apparatuses used to manufacture Methamphetamine. Some of these components included muriatic acid, hydrogen peroxide, cold packs, coffee filters, and a coffee grinder. A purse was located on the passenger seat of the van. The purse contained miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and numerous plastic baggies containing white powder residue. Mark Gentile was charged with one count of Illegal Manufacture of Drugs, Methamphetamine, a Schedule II Controlled Substance, a felony of the second degree. Additional charges are pending. Gentile has pending charges for the Illegal Manufacture of Methamphetamine from 2009. FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO INSPECTOR WILLIAM HOLLAND AT 330-643-5091.
