The first Summit County Sheriff, Thomas Wilson, took office in 1840. Drew Alexander, our current sheriff, was elected in November, 2000, and in January, 2001, he took office and became the 36th. elected Sheriff of Summit County.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the state of Ohio, employing over 500 dedicated men and women.
