ALERT!

High Pressure Sales Tactics

Can Leave You Holding the Bill

Several people have called my office to report a Florida-based home security company that was using high pressure tactics to sell security alarms in Cuyahoga Falls.  The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department also received calls and although it appears that no crime was committed, the sales representatives were extremely pushy in trying to make a sale.

The salesperson would come to the door with a “great deal” on a home security system.  They told the homeowner that the equipment was free and the service was $40; the actual cost was $49.95.  They didn’t explain that the homeowners insurance may make up the $10 difference.  They also told the homeowner the installation fee was waived because they were chosen to “model” the equipment and service.  The reality was the service was expensive and the equipment was limited with lots of extras to buy.  They also tried to pressure people into signing a long term contract with them.  Be wary and ask plenty of questions!

If you come in contact with a salesperson that is evasive and does not answer your questions, be very cautious.  Do not be pressured into buying anything or signing a contract for service.  Ask questions and check out the company before you do business with them.
