Man Arrested Using Brother’s Name Pleads Guilty

(September 6, 2011… Akron) … Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Jesse Jones, 28, of Akron pled guilty to charges of Forgery, a fifth-degree felony; Falsification, a first-degree misdemeanor; Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor; and Operating Without a Valid License, a minor misdemeanor.

When Jones was pulled over on April 21, 2011 for improper use of historical license plates, neither he nor his brother, who was also in the vehicle, had any photo identification. Jones gave the police officer his brother’s name and personal information as his own and vice versa. Detecting alcohol, the police officer conducted a field sobriety test, which Jones failed. Jones was arrested and booked under his brother’s name. An Akron police detective later discovered the brothers had provided false identities when he processed their fingerprints, which were already on file from previous crimes they had committed.

Jones will be sentenced on October 12.
