Sagamore Hills Man Pleads to Domestic Violence Charges

(October 5, 2011… Akron) … Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Keith Hume, 35, of Sagamore Hills, pleaded guilty to Felonious Assault, a second-degree felony; Failure to Comply, a third-degree felony; Falsification, a first-degree misdemeanor; and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, a first-degree misdemeanor.

After an evening out in May, Hume and the victim got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Hume punched the victim in the back of the head, hit her over the head with a large vase and repeatedly hit and kicked her while she lay on the floor. He then fled their home in her vehicle.

The victim called police and was treated at a local hospital for broken ribs, bruises, cuts, a bruised bladder and a fractured vertebrae. At the same time, Hume called police claiming he had been assaulted.

A few hours after the assault, Hume returned to the house. The victim’s father called the police, who attempted to block Hume from driving from the home, but he drove onto a lawn and around the police cars. The officers followed Hume, ending the chase after seven miles when speeds reached 120 mph.

Later that day, a police officer on patrol in Walton Hills spotted Hume and attempted to stop him. Hume again ran from the police, starting another police chase. This one was terminated for safety reasons in Stow.

Hume was eventually arrested at a hotel in Macedonia. When confronted by police, he gave a false name.

Judge Judy Hunter will sentence Hume on November 8.
