McCall Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

(October 19, 2011… Akron) … Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Robert L. McCall, 51, of Staeger Street in Akron, pleaded guilty to Robbery, a second-degree felony.

Early on the morning of July 4, McCall grabbed a woman near the intersection of East Market Street and East Buchtel Avenue in Akron. He punched her in the face several times, threw her into the bushes outside an apartment building and then stole her wallet.

Hearing the victim’s screams, a neighbor called 911. When police arrived, they found some of the contents of the victim’s purse and a baseball cap McCall had been wearing at the time of the attack. The victim was able to describe her attacker in detail and later positively identified McCall from a photo array. A DNA analysis linked McCall to the hat found at the crime scene.

Judge Ted Schneiderman sentenced McCall to five years in prison.
