Man Pleads Guilty to Fraudulently Claiming Veteran Benefits

          

(November 2, 2011… Akron) … Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Lloyd Monday, Jr., 41, of Orlando Avenue in Akron, pleaded guilty today to Attempted Tampering with Records, a fourth-degree felony, and Falsification, a fifth-degree felony.

 

Monday altered his Armed Forces discharge papers, changing his discharge from Other than Honorable to Honorable. He used his forged papers to apply for money from the Ohio Veteran’s Bonus Program. The program provides funding to Ohio military personnel who served or are serving honorably during the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan or Iraq conflicts.

 

Judge Paul Gallagher sentenced Monday to two years of community control.
