Man Sentenced on Domestic Violence and Assault Charges
(December 14, 2011… Akron) … Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Judge Lynne
Callahan sentenced Lewis Loftus, 24, of Broad Boulevard in Cuyahoga Falls, to
three years of community control for fifth-degree felony Domestic Violence
charge, fourth-degree felony Assault and first-degree misdemeanor Resisting
Arrest.
On July 7, Loftus was driving with his female victim, who
was pregnant. They started arguing, and Loftus told the woman to get out of his
car. When she refused, he lifted her up and threw her from the car.
Less than one week later, Loftus was drinking at a bar in Cuyahoga Falls. Police
were called when he became agitated and started screaming. When officers
attempted to handcuff Loftus and put him in a cruiser, he kicked an officer in
the chest and had to be tasered. As he was being arrested, he threatened to kill
the officers.
As a condition of his sentence, Loftus must complete a
program at a halfway house and was placed in the mental health division of
probation. He will spend one year in prison if he fails to meet any of the
conditions of community control.
