    CSEA AWARDS and RECOGNITION

2010

The Ohio Child Support Director’s Association (OCDA) recognized Summit County CSEA at the fall conference with an Essential Piece/Best Practice Award for its’ development of a Genetic Testing on Demand Program.

In May, 2010, Summit County expanded its paternity establishment efforts and began offering on demand genetic testing at several area birthing hospitals, the first CSEA in the state to do so.

2009

Ohio Child Support Director’s Association (OCDA) recognized Summit County CSEA at the 2009 Fall conference with a Best Practice Award for its' development of child support workshops at churches throughout the community.

The workshops were developed to provide a one-stop opportunity in a relaxed environment, which allowed individuals to work out their child support payments, get their driver’s license back (if it had been suspended for child support purposes), and to learn about modifying their child support payments as well as general child support information. The churches that were targeted were in heavily populated areas within the heart of town in order to reach the largest number of citizens. Further, the CSEA wanted to develop a relationship with faith-based organizations in an effort to facilitate understanding and knowledge of its programs.

2009

The National Association of Counties (NACo) awarded the Summit County's Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) an Achievement Award  for its Child Support Days held last August. The award states "2009 Achievement Award in recognition of an effective and innovative program which contributes to and enhances county government in the United States."

Child Support Days, held two days in August 2008 at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, brought in 984 CSEA clients to work out their child support problems.  The operation included Child Support Specialists, judges, court administration, Sheriff's deputies, staff from the Clerk of Courts office, magistrates from Domestic Relations, and many others.  More than $25,000 was collected in back child support. (June 2009)

2009

Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) selected Summit County CSEA for two best practices to be published in the Federal Information Memorandum, IM-09-03, Compendium of Promising Practices/Good Ideas in Child Support Enforcement–2008.  The publication details Summit County’s best practice of using billboards to assist with location of child support felony offenders through increased public awareness of the child support program and also for a best practice that improves the agency’s federal incentive performance in the collection categories by reducing the amount of unclaimed/held funds. (May 2009)
