 Magistrate Tavia Baxter Galonski 

Magistrate Tavia Baxter Galonski graduated from Emory University in Atlanta with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She then graduated from the University of Akron School of Law where she had been a Dean’s Club Scholar. 

Magistrate Galonski has a diverse legal background. She started as a staff attorney with Western Reserve Legal Services where she represented low income clients in Domestic Relations and Juvenile Courts. Next, she started her own law practice. The multi-county practice enhanced her legal background as she moved into the areas of Collection and Landlord-Tenant Law.  While in private practice she served as a Para Legal Instructor at E.T.I. Technical College. 

In 2001, she was appointed by Judge Carol Deszo as a Magistrate in Summit County’s   Domestic Relations Court.   In addition to her duties as a Magistrate, she was a regular speaker at the Court’s Remembering the Children Program. The program was designed to guide parents as they deal with raising children from separate households. 

In 2003, she was appointed as a Magistrate in Summit County’s Juvenile Court. She has heard cases throughout Summit County by way of the Court’s Court in the Community.
