JUDGE LINDA TUCCI TEODOSIO ANNOUNCES RE-ELECTION BID Summit County Juvenile Court Judge Linda Tucci Teodosio today announced her intention to run for re-election. Judge Teodosio will be seeking a second, six-year term on the Juvenile Court bench. “I am seeking re-election so the Court staff and I can continue to work toward achieving our goal of providing a diversity of programs to serve the citizens of Summit County while fulfilling our function of administering justice to juvenile offenders,” said Judge Teodosio. Since beginning her administration of the Juvenile Court on January 1, 2003, Judge Teodosio has introduced progressive programming that has been embraced by citizens, the legal profession and social service agencies locally and nationwide. The Court’s groundbreaking Crossroads Program, an intensive probation program that accepts youth with the co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance abuse, has received national recognition for its innovative concept. Under Judge Teodosio’s leadership, the Court has also established the Family Resource Center, diversion programs for traffic and underage consumption offenders, Teen Court, the Court in the Community, enhanced educational components for detainees, Victim Impact Panels and Project: Greenhouse Affect, where detainees learn to grow and nurture plants in a greenhouse and garden year round. Also during her tenure, the Court’s CASA/GAL Program received its certification from the State of Ohio and, for the first time ever, the Court was ranked first in the state during fiscal year 2007 in receiving Reclaim Ohio funds from the state, an indication that the Court has practiced fiscal responsibility. Since her tenure on the Juvenile Court bench began, Judge Teodosio’s work has been recognized by The University of Akron’s School of Law in April 2007 when it presented her with its prestigious Outstanding Alumni Award. In June 2006, Judge Teodosio was a recipient of The Distinguished Citizen Award from the International Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta for her outstanding work in Government and Law. It is the highest honor an individual can receive from that organization for professional achievement. Also in 2006, she received the National Catholic Educational Association’s Distinguished Graduate Award. Previously, in 2003, she was recognized as the Public Official of the Year in Summit County by the National Association of Social Workers, which also named Judge Teodosio as its Public Official of the Year for the State of Ohio the following year. She has received the Award of Achievement from the Six District Educational Compact and was the recipient of the Harold B. Stubbs Humanitarian Award for Government. “I hope the citizens of Summit County have approved of our efforts the past five years,” stated Judge Teodosio. “I look forward to seeking their support once again so we can continue our mission of providing a fair and forward-thinking Court for the community.”
