The Summit County Emergency Management
Agency is proud to present the Summit County Disaster Operations Training.
Disaster Operations Training is designed to promote the study of the
Summit County Emergency Operations Plan. The Summit County Emergency
Operations Plan is a systematic approach to handling disaster. The Plan
identifies responsibilities, describes operational procedures and details
working relationships between all agencies and political subdivisions
within Summit County. The Disaster Operations Training consists of 16
booklets beginning with The Basic Plan. At the completion of each booklet,
a final test will be sent to the Summit County Emergency Management Agency
for a Certificate of Completion. There are four levels of certification
that can be achieved:
- Essential Level is designed to
provide the participant with a basic understanding of the Emergency
Operations Plan, the Emergency Management System, and their particular
role in that system. This is achieved at the completion of 4 booklets.
- Intermediate Level provides a
deeper understanding of the Emergency Management System and how agencies
interact. This is achieved at the completion of 8 booklets.
- Emergency Operations Level is
for people who will be working in the Emergency Operations Center during
a disaster. This level will enable EOC personnel to work smoothly with
each other by having an in-depth understanding of each person's role
during disaster operations. This is achieved at the completion of 12
booklets.
- Advanced Level is achieved at
the completion of all the Emergency Operations Plan workbooks.
This training is targeted to officer
level, elected officials, and management level personnel but it is
available to any Summit County resident. The Disaster Operations
Training provides continuing education to all individuals involved in
disaster response. It will provide a strong foundation for a swift,
effective response and recovery from disaster while promoting a better
understanding of the Emergency Management System.
