County Executive Russell M. Pry and PetSmart Partner to Promote
the Sale of Dog Licenses, Pardon My Pooch
Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13, 2009, representatives
from Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry's Pardon My Pooch program
will be selling dog licenses and waiving the $14 late-fee regularly
charged to citizens who have yet to purchase a 2009 Summit County Dog
License at PetSmart, located at 355 Howe Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
44221.
The purpose of this weekend long amnesty event is to bring more local
pet owners into compliance with the state dog licensing law: a
regulation that requires citizens who own, keep or harbor a dog more
than three months of age to purchase a county dog licenses on an annual
basis.
Pet owners interested in taking advantage of this unique, cost-saving
opportunity are to visit the County of Summit Division of Animal Control
information booth at PetSmart on:
Friday, September 11, 2009, 6 - 8 p.m.
Saturday, September 12, 2009, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday, September 13, 2009, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Dog licenses provide citizens with proof of ownership documentation
should a pet go missing, authorizes pets to visit area dog parks and
generates the revenue needed to supply food, shelter and vaccinations
for abandoned animals in need.
The cost to purchase a dog license is $14. Licenses for dogs providing
assistance to citizens with disabilities are free of charge and valid
throughout the duration of the animal's life. Proof of training must be
submitted.
