Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry's Department of
Communications Receives National Recognition
On Tuesday, May 21, 2009, the National Association of County Information
Officers (NACIO) announced Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry's
Department of Communications as the winner of six, top honors in the
2009 Awards of Excellence competition. Awards are scheduled to be
presented on Friday, July 24, 2009 in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Summit County Department of Communications received awards of
Superior (special projects category) for the 2008 9/11 Remembrance Art
Project Red, Woven & Blue and the Serving Our Soldiers program.
Meritorious awards were given for the County of Summit SCENE Newsletter
(internal publications category), the 2008 State of the County Address
(speech writing category) and for the Summit County Business Partnership
Logo (graphic design category). One award of Excellence was given for a
Bridging the Gap Bus Advertisement (graphic design category).
"The staff within the Department of Communications is eclectic, creative
and extremely talented," said Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry.
"It is great to see their work being recognized on the national level."
Throughout the past eight years, the Department of Communications has
received 45 honors from the National Association of County Information
Officers, a peer membership organization dedicated to creating a better
understanding of the duties of county government and to improving the
communication skills of NACIO members and all other county officials.
