Summit County Local Emergency Planning Committee to Host 3rd Annual All-Hazards Planning Conference

On Thursday, April 30, 2009, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., the Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry’s Local Emergency Planning Committee will be hosting the 3rd Annual All-Hazards Planning Conference at the Summa Health System, Professional Auditorium, located at 55 Arch Street in downtown Akron.

Representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the State of Ohio Emergency Response Commission will be facilitating discussions on issues pertaining to the management of hazardous chemicals and substances. Summit County Sheriff Drew Alexander’s Bomb Squad and the Summit County Hazardous Materials Response Team will be on site and displaying emergency response equipment. Cleanup contractors, hospital decontamination procedures and communicating with the media will also be discussed.

This event is free and open to Summit County professionals associated with: chemical facilities, emergency management, fire, health departments and hospitals, law enforcement, public safety and public works.
