Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry’s Division of Animal Control to Co-Sponsor Barkitecture Event

Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry’s Division of Animal Control, in collaboration with One-of-a-Kind Pet Rescue, will be sponsoring Barkitecture, a special exhibit of whimsical doghouses on the grounds of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, located at 714 North Portage Path in Akron, Ohio.

Barkitecture will function very similar to the Treemendous Treehouses exhibit in 2007, artists, architects and architectural firms from Northeast Ohio will be submitting designs to be judged on the basis of function and the originality of the design. Structures selected to participate in the display will be announced in March 2009.

“Summit County is proud to serve as a co-sponsor of this pet-friendly, community event,” said Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry. “We are hoping our involvement results in citizens being more aware of the many affordable services that are being offered at our Animal Control facility.”

Barkitecture is scheduled to run from May 9th through October 31, 2009.
