Executive Russell M. Pry's Division of Animal Control, will be
sponsoring an Adopt-A-Thon at the Acme Fresh Market, located at 3235
Manchester Road in Akron.
In addition to the Summit County Division of Animal Control,
representatives from numerous animal rescue groups will be on-site and
offering unique dog and cat adoption opportunities.
The cost to adopt a dog fully treated by the Division of Animal Control
is $90; while, the cost to adopt a cat fully treated is $60. Full
treatment includes: a license (if necessary), shots, spay-and-neuter
operations and de-flea & de-worm services.
"Last weekend, my Division of Animal Control participated in the Akron
Pet Expo. By participating in this event, we were able to find new homes
for two dogs and seven cats," stated Summit County Executive Russell M.
Pry.
In addition to participating in local animal adoption events this
summer, Executive Pry's Division of Animal Control is serving as a prime
sponsor of Barkitecture, an exhibit of whimsical dog houses currently on
display at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, located at 714 North Portage Path
in west Akron.
"We are hoping our increase in community involvement will boost the
number of animals being adopted out of our facility," added Pry. "These
events also provide us with opportunities to communicate the
affordable services we offer to citizens."
