County Executive Russell M. Pry Honored with National Budget
Presentation Award
On Tuesday, July 28, 2009, the Government Finance Officers Association
(GFOA) of the United States and Canada named the County of Summit as a
recipient of the 2009 Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The award
reflects County Executive Russell M. Pry's commitment towards meeting
the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
The County of Summit's financial statement was rated "proficient" in all
four judging categories: policy document, financial plan, operations
guide and a communications device. Fourteen mandatory criteria within
those categories were also satisfied.
For budgets including fiscal period 2007, 1,166 entities received the
award. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of
budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments
throughout North America.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional
association serving 17,500 government finance professionals throughout
North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards
Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
