Executive Pry Announces $1 Million in FEMA Funds Coming to Summit
County, Local Municipalities and Educational Institutions to Benefit
Today, Tuesday, January 13, 2009, Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry
announced that a mix of local municipalities and educational
institutions throughout the community will be receiving over $1 million
in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance
Reimbursement Funds.
The federal dollars are being refunded back to twenty-eight Summit
County agencies as a result of the severe, wind storm that blew through
the community on Sunday, September 14, 2008.
In October 2008, Executive Pry’s Emergency Management Agency began
working with local governments and community organizations in an effort
to collectively report damages and assist community leaders in applying
for federal reimbursement. The Federal Emergency Management Agency pays
75 percent of eligible costs; while, applicants are responsible for the
remaining 25 percent.

Assistance Reimbursement dollars:

Akron Public Schools, Cuyahoga Falls Public Schools and the Hudson Local
School District will each be refunded $4,125; while, The University of
Akron will be reimbursed $6,245.25.
