Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry's Making A Difference Forum
Slated
On Tuesday, October 21, 2008, Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry and
the Summit County Social Services Advisory Board (SSAB) will host the
5th Annual Making a Difference Human Services Forum at The University of
Akron, Student Union, located at 303 Carroll Street in Akron.
The Making a Difference Human Services Forum is designed to bring
professionals from health and social service disciplines together in an
effort to provide them with continuing education opportunities,
information about on-going community initiatives, programs, resources
and more.
During the luncheon, scheduled from 12 – 1 p.m., Executive Pry and the
SSAB will honor one individual and one organization with a Making a
Difference Human Services Award. This honor recognizes
individuals/organizations who have demonstrated excellence in the
provision of health or human services in an effort to assist individuals
in maintaining or achieving self-sufficiency.
Immediately following the luncheon, Jacqueline Marcell, radio talk show
host and noted author of Elder Rage, will make the keynote presentation,
Managing Challenging Elders. The presentation is designed to offer
caregivers and healthcare professionals creative medical and behavioral
interventions when dealing with individuals experiencing all forms of
dementia.
