Summit County Department of Job and Family Services Directs
Citizens in Need of Home Energy Assistance Programs to ASCA, Inc.
Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry’s Department of Job and Family
Services is directing citizens in need of home energy assistance
programming to Akron Summit Community Action, Inc. (ASCA, Inc.), a
private, non-profit corporation dedicated to providing a wide range of
diverse and comprehensive services to low-income citizens in Summit
County.
ASCA, Inc., located at 55 East Mill Street in downtown Akron, is
currently enrolling citizens in the Winter Crisis Program (WCP) an
initiative that provides financial assistance to low-income households
experiencing: a possible disconnection of a heating source, a
disconnected heating service, a need to establish a new service account
or a transfer of services, or have less than a 10 day supply of bulk
fuel. The WCP program runs from November 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009.
Throughout the year, Akron Summit Community Action, Inc. also enrolls or
re-verifies gas and electric utility customers in the Percentage of
Income Payment Plan (PIPP). PIPP is an extended payment arrangement that
requires regulated gas and electric companies to accept payments based
on a percentage of the monthly household income.
