Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry Forwards Grants to Local
Economic Development Organizations
On Friday, May 2, 2008, Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry announced
his office will be forwarding $175,000 in grants to local organizations
working to improve community and economic development throughout the
Northeast Ohio region.
The Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce (GAC) has been awarded $50,000;
while, the Summit County Port Authority (SCPA) will receive $125,000 in
funding.
“These organizations work daily on efforts to bring jobs, additional tax
dollars and funding into our community,” said Summit County Executive
Russell M. Pry. “The grant funds will help support the operations of
both organizations.”
The mission of the GAC is to drive economic development and prosperity
for the people of the greater Akron region; whereas, the SCPA exists to
offer creative funding, trade advantages and partnership opportunities
to businesses expanding or relocating in or near the community.
“Improving community and economic development is a major priority for my
administration,” added Pry. “I appreciate their assistance in bringing
employment opportunities and economic growth to the area.”
