Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry Raises Funds for the Good Samaritan Hunger Center

On Tuesday, September 23, 2008, Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry hosted a Change for Change after work, networking gathering to benefit the Good Samaritan Hunger Center. The event was held at Rockne’s Pub, located at 7 Merriman Road in Akron, and raised over $640.00 in tips and donations.

The Good Samaritan Hunger Center provides nutritious hot meals and bagged food to community dining centers in Akron area neighborhoods. The hot meals are served in a spirit of encouragement and hospitality to all citizens in need. The organization uses donated and perishable food that might otherwise go to waste. Food donations come from restaurants, grocery stores, food vendors and distributors, commercial and home gardeners and citizens.

“Each year, the Good Samaritan Hunger Center serves 12,500 meals in an environment of encouragement and respect,” said Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry. “I am sure the organization will put this cash contribution to good use.”

Change for Change is a monthly networking program. All of the tips earned, by the Rockne’s Pub serving staff, are donated to a predetermined charity and/or cause. Future events and participating charities will be announced.
