The Summit County Charter requires the County Executive to submit a CIP
to County Council on an annual basis. The document includes a detailed
capital improvement plan proposed for the current fiscal year, 2008, and
a program of projects for the period of 2009 through 2013.
Executive Pry’s forty-four page document contains detailed plans to
fiscally support the following projects:
-
Construction of a new Veterans Service Commission Building
-
Construction of a new Summit County Animal Control Facility
-
Construction of a new Summit County Sheriff’s Administration Building
and renovations to the Summit County Jail
-
Renovations to the Summit County Courthouse to provide space for two
new judgeships
-
Expansion of the Summit County sewer system in southern Summit County
-
A Canal Corridor and Greenway Grant to the Ohio & Erie Canal Coalition
In addition to the proposed construction projects, land purchases and
renovations, the document also details the financial role the County of
Summit will play in financing the public
improvements needed to keep the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company’s World
and North American Headquarters in Summit County.
“The investments contained in this plan reflect those priorities that I
believe to be crucial to the success and well being of the citizens of
Summit County,” said Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry. “I look
forward to working with County Council, County officeholders, local
