Lakemore Elementary School Finds Homes for Computers Donated by
Executive Pry
20 surplus County of Summit computer systems, donated by Summit County
Executive Russell M. Pry, are now in the homes of students attending
Lakemore Elementary School, located at 1584 Wilson Avenue in Lakemore.
In October 2007, the county-owned computers were made available when the
Summit County Department of Job and Family Services declared the items
as surplus. As a result, Executive Pry was able to donate the computers
to the Springfield Local School District. In turn, Lakemore Elementary
School identified 20 students who would benefit from having a computer
system placed in their home.
In an effort to distribute the computers in a fair and just manner,
Lakemore Elementary School administrators asked parents to complete a
thorough application. The submitted documents were then screened and 20
families were selected as computer recipients.
It is great to see these surplus computer systems being put to use in
the community, said Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry. I believe
these computers will have a great impact on the educational endeavors
put forth by these children.
Each computer system donated included: a keyboard, a monitor, a mouse, a
set of power cords and a Microsoft Windows XP operating system.
