Summit County Executive James B. McCarthy’s Room with a View Exhibit Features New Artists

Once again, Summit County Executive James B. McCarthy opened his eighth floor Executive conference room to an exhibition program that features original artwork by Summit County artists.

The exhibition, called Room with a View, is an ongoing program that celebrates and recognizes local artists and gives their work exposure in a public setting. This is the 14th exhibit in the series.

During the next four months, an assorted collection of works from the following artists will be on display in the Ohio Building, 175 South Main Street in downtown Akron:

  • Cornelius Butler, of the City of Akron, is a local artist who works with various mediums, such as: drawings, jewelry, masks, paintings, sculptures and shields. Butler has contributed one painting and two sketches to this exhibit.
  • Bob Henry, of Springfield Township, is a local artist who expresses himself artistically through the creation of oil paintings. Henry has contributed five oil paintings to the exhibit.
  • Sandra Holata, of the City of Cuyahoga Falls, is an artist who prints black and white photographs, using liquid emulsion, on to food boxes and recycled, handmade papers. Holata is showcasing four prints in the exhibit.
  • Frank Jones, of the City of Akron, is a sketch artist who captures the essence of nature in his work. The exhibit showcases four of Jones’ ink pen sketches.
  • Donald Miller, of the City of Cuyahoga Falls, is an artist who has been exhibiting art for the past 22 years. Miller has loaned six collage pieces to the exhibit.

“The artists participating in this rotation have created a unique exhibit,” said Summit County Executive James B. McCarthy. “Together they form a colorful showcase of the great artistic talent that exists in our community.”

The first Room with a View opened in January 2003. Since its opening, a total of 59 Summit County artists have participated in this program, 48 Summit County citizens and 11 Summit County government employees.
