New Look To State Issued Warrants

Checks issued by the State of Ohio will take on a new look starting August 1, 2007. This new process will affect all financial issuance in Ohio. Recipients of program benefits from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services will be receiving the new state issued warrant (check). The programs include: OWF Cash Assistance, Refugee Cash Assistance and Disability Financial Assistance.

Recipients need to be aware of the impending change to the warrant to avoid any confusion. A special notice has been sent to recipients receiving June benefits alerting them to the change.

The four most critical changes for clients:

  • Checks dated after July 1, 2007 will be different.
  • The new checks will be blue. The old checks were pink.
  • The new checks will have a form (remittance) attached. The old checks did not.
  • The form should be removed before cashing the check.

Questions concerning the new checks should be directed to the Summit County Department of Job and Family Services at 330-643-7876 or 330-643-7747.
