Executive Pry Moves Forward With Village of Lakemore Community
Investment Area Renewal Plan
On Monday, August 6, 2007, the County
of Summit Council adopted Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry’s
Village of Lakemore Community Investment Area Renewal Plan. The plan,
introduced to County Council in July 2007, is designed to effect a
comprehensive rehabilitation of the Village of Lakemore’s housing stock,
public infrastructure and neighborhood.
The Village of Lakemore Community Investment Area (LCIA) includes
approximately 392 residential structures. The area is bordered by
Springfield Lake to the north, Hilda Street to the west, Sanitarium Road
to the south and Lake Road to the east. The project area includes
approximately 100 acres and has a population of 1,047 citizens.
The partnership between the County and the Village will allow for the
razing of blighted homes, housing rehabilitation, repairs to flooding
problems, implementation of sidewalks, a lakeshore trail and a fishing
pier, the widening of area roads and the prospect of new home
developments and commercial businesses.
“The citizens of the Village of Lakemore will benefit greatly from this
project, as well as the County of Summit as a whole,” said Summit County
Executive Russell M. Pry. “I am looking forward to implementing this
plan.”
According to the Summit County Department of Community and Economic
Development, the next phase of the Village of Lakemore Community
Investment Area Renewal Plan is to establish a development agreement
between the Village of Lakemore and the County of Summit.
“The development agreement will specify which government entity will be
responsible for carrying out specific actions of the plan,” said Warren
Walfish, senior administrator for the Summit County Department of
Community and Economic Development. “Once the document is finalized, the
agreement will be forwarded to Summit County Council for their
authorization.”
