Executive McCarthy To Hold Public Information Meeting To Discuss Plans for Redevelopment in the Village of Lakemore

On Tuesday, May 15, 2007, from 6 – 8 p.m., Summit County Executive James B. McCarthy’s Department of Community and Economic Development, in partnership with the Village of Lakemore, will be holding a public information meeting at Springfield High School, located at 2960 Sanitarium Road in Akron, to discuss possible community redevelopment plans. The public is invited.

The event is being held to discuss the potential plans for redevelopment in the areas between Sanitarium Road, Springfield Lake, Lake Street, and Hilda Avenue in the Village of Lakemore. Plans for redevelopment are in the early stages and discussion at this meeting may include the following:

  • Clearance of existing blighted residential & commercial structures in flood prone areas;
  • Demolition assistance to property owners of vacant, abandoned, deteriorated structures;
  • Proposed changes in land use and zoning;
  • Proposed environmentally friendly drainage improvements;
  • Proposed housing rehabilitation assistance, along with subsidized and market rate residential and rental new construction; and
  • Proposed roadway improvements in support of new drainage.
