Executive James B. McCarthy’s Department of Communications Honored with
Awards of Excellence
On Friday, April 27, 2007, the National Association of County
Information Officers (NACIO) announced Summit County Executive James B.
McCarthy’s Department of Communications as the winner of four honors in
the 2007 NACIO Awards of Excellence competition. Awards are scheduled to
be presented on Friday, July 13, 2007 at the NACIO Awards of Excellence
banquet in Richmond, Virginia.
The County of Summit Department of Communications received two awards in
the category of Graphic Design: an award of Superior for the 2007 Black
History Month Website Banner and an award of Excellent for the Red,
Write and Blue, 9-11 Remembrance Poster. Meritorious awards were given
in the Special Projects category for the Munroe Falls River Restoration
Ribbon Cutting and Tree Planting Ceremony and in the Writing category
for the 2006 State of the County Address.
“The staff within the Department of Communications is extremely talented
and creative,” said Summit County Executive James B. McCarthy.
“Throughout the past six years, a total of 34 Awards of Excellence have
been awarded to the County of Summit Department of Communications.”
The National Association of County Information Officers is a peer
membership organization dedicated to creating a better understanding of
the duties of county government and to improving the communication
skills of NACIO members and all other county officials.
