Executive Pry Discusses Economic Development with City of Twinsburg Community and Business Leaders

On Friday, October 26, 2007, at 2 p.m., Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry hosted a Sharing Resources to Better Economic Development Forum at the Twinsburg Public Library, located at 10050 Ravenna Road in Twinsburg, Ohio. The forum allowed Executive Pry, and a panel of invited elected officials, to meet with over 30 community and business leaders and participate in a discussion about economic development and job creation in the City of Twinsburg.

Joining Executive Pry on the forum panel were the following invited guests:

  • City of Twinsburg Mayor Katherine Procop
  • State of Ohio Treasurer Richard Cordray
  • Ohio Department of Development Regional Economic Development Dir. Leah Walsh
  • State of Ohio Representative, District 41, Brian G. Williams
  • County of Summit Council President, District 1, Nick Kostandaras

“The purpose of the forum was to inform citizens about the programs and services local and state officials are offering in an effort to improve economic development in the Twinsburg community,” said Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry. “The event also allowed us to
stress the importance of community partnerships, workforce development and regionalism.”

During the forum, representatives from the Summit County Department of Community and Economic Development offered their assistance to all of the local businesses and organizations in attendance. The department has the ability to coordinate: the distribution of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG); Community Reinvestment Area Agreements; Enterprise Zone Agreements; entrance into Foreign Trade Zone Sites; and participation in the Summit Business Partnership.

“Economic development is a major priority for my administration,” added Pry. “Forums like these are very helpful in getting a feel for the needs of the local business community.”
