Executive Pry Discusses Economic Development With City Of Green Community And Business Leaders

On Monday, August 27, 2007, at 3 p.m., Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry hosted a “Sharing Resources To Better Economic Development” forum at the Green Branch Library, located at 4046 Massillon Road in Uniontown, Ohio. The event allowed Executive Pry, and a panel of invited elected officials, to meet with over 50 community and business leaders and participate in a discussion about improving economic development in the City of Green.

Summit County Department of Community and Economic Development Director Patrick J. D’Andrea joined Executive Pry on the panel, as well as the following elected officials

  • U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan
  • State Treasurer Richard Cordray;
  • State Senator Tom Sawyer;
  • State Representative Stephen Dyer; and
  • City of Green Councilman Andy Padrutt.

“The purpose of the forum was to inform citizens about the programs and services local, state and federal public officials are offering in an effort to improve economic development in the Green community,” said Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry. “The event also allowed us to stress the importance of community partnerships, education, health care, quality of life and regionalism.”

During the forum, representatives from the Summit County Department of Community and Economic Development offered their assistance to all of the local businesses and organizations in attendance. The department has the ability to coordinate: the distribution of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG); Community Reinvestment Area Agreements; Enterprise Zone Agreements; entrance into Foreign Trade Zone Sites; and participation in the Summit Business Partnership.

“Economic development is a major priority of my administration,” added Pry. “Forums like these are very helpful in getting a feel for the needs of the local business community.”

Future forums and participating elected officials will be announced. For more information contact Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry’s Department of Community and Economic Development call 330-643-2552, or click on www.co.summit.oh.us  .
