Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry Announces The Distribution of $650 Thousand In Grants

Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry’s Department of Community and Economic Development announced the distribution of additional 2007 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funds, totaling $653,500.00.

The following grants have been awarded:

  • City of Stow: Funds will be used to replace 1,910 lineal feet of waterline on Cherryhurst Drive from Maplehurst Drive to Paulann Drive and from Paulann Drive to Fishcreek Road. Total amount awarded: $200,000.00.

  • Professional Services: Funds will be used for engineering costs, blight survey and environmental assessment for drainage and right of way improvements in the lower elevation areas in Lakemore from Sanitarium Road to Lakeside Drive (between Lake and Hilda). Total amount awarded: $325,000.00.

  • Summit County HWAP Renewal: Funds will be used in conjunction with other state and local funds to provide low-to-moderate income homeowners with assistance through the weatherization program. Total amount awarded: $22,500.00.

  • Summit County Waiver Demolition Program: Funds will be used to subsidize the cost of demolishing vacant properties throughout Summit County, except in the Cities of Akron, Barberton and Cuyahoga Falls. Total amount awarded: $75,000.00.

  • Village of Mogadore, Senior Center (Alternate Project): Funds will be used for necessary repairs to their Senior Center. Repairs will include replacement of the existing deteriorated roof, new windows, awning, brick veneer and other structural repairs. Total amount awarded: $96,000.00.

“The release of these additional funds during the current fiscal year are crucial to the initiation of the County of Summit’s joint venture to revitalize the area affected by last year’s flooding in the Village of Lakemore,” said Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry. “It also allows the County to fund other worthy projects.”
