Summit County Department of Job and Family Services Will Not Participate in HEAP This Year.

Due to changes in the Prevention, Retention, and Contingency Program (PRC), the Summit County Department of Job and Family Services will not be authorizing utility service when the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) begins. Enrollment in HEAP will defer utility shut-offs and is available from November 1, 2007 through March 31, 2008. During this time PRC will be available for shelter, and prevention and retention services for families who are newly unemployed.

The Summit County Department of Job and Family Services will be working in closely with Akron Summit Community Action, Inc. and other local agencies to provide service, support, and information during the coming winter season.
