Protect the River, Protect the Watershed

To protect the river we must take care of what flows in to it from the watershed, the land draining to the river.

Even if you can't see it, anywhere water falls in the watershed, the water runs down the hill into drains and ditches through pipes and directly into the Cuyahoga River and its tributaries.

Wetlands, floodplains, and streamside vegetation help protect healthy rivers and streams by

u

Filtering pollution

u

Storing and slowing floodwaters

u

Reducing erosion and sediment entering the river

u

Improving habitat
