Summit
County Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with
the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (OEMA) and the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has applied
for a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Project in an
effort to promote the distribution of NOAA emergency
alert radios in Summit County.
Summit County Emergency Management Agency has
identified areas where large groups of people gather to
receive radios and education such as daycare centers,
nursing homes, churches, community centers, libraries
and tourist sites throughout the County.
Under
the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), EO 11988
and EO 11990, public notice is required of any federal
actions that affect floodplains or wetlands.
All necessary permits will be obtained prior to
construction and completion of the project.
The
objectives of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program are to
prevent future losses of lives and property, to
implement state or local Hazard Mitigation plans, to
enable mitigation measures to be implemented during
immediate recovery from disaster, and to provide funding
for identified and approved hazard mitigation projects.
Eligible
projects include acquisition and relocation of
structures from hazard-prone areas, elevation,
retrofitting, such as flood proofing, to protect
structures from future damage and safe-rooms.
Interested
parties and/or citizens are invited to comment on the
project, either in writing or by calling, Summit County
