Text Box: The County Seal
County Council approved the official seal of summit county on March 9, 1981. The first County Executive, John Morgan, created a committee of civic leaders to develop a county seal. The panel asked for suggestions from the community to help design the seal.
After looking at all the entries, the committee made a recommendation to Executive Morgan and County Council. A schoolteacher, Mr. George F. Seigman, created the design that was chosen. Ironically, Mr. Seigman once taught at Executive Morgan’s Alma Mater, Ellet.
Mr. Seigman’s depictions on the county seal represent four important eras in the county history.
