Child Care
Programs – These programs help pay for childcare while parents
work or go to school. We can also help find the child care that works
best for each family, whether it is traditional care in a licensed
facility or care in a certified home setting. Another component of this
program involves identification and certification of individuals who
want to provide child care in their own home, including care provided to
families by friends/relatives.
PRC Programs
– PRC stands for Prevention, Retention & Contingency. These
programs help families maintain self-sufficiency in hard times. Some PRC
services include counseling, tutoring, employment training and
short-term help with such needs as utility bills and car repairs.
Health
Insurance Programs – These programs are designed to provide
health insurance to people who are age 65 and older or those who are
blind or have another disability. The basic health plan covers doctor’s
visits, prescription drugs, hospital care, dental care, vision care and
other services. The long-term care plan provides for care in a nursing
home or intermediate care facility. This program also helps some people
who qualify for long-term care to stay in the community, either in their
own home or in a group home.
Medicare
Premium Assistance – This program helps people with Medicare
coverage pay for some or all of their Medicare expenses, such as
premiums, deductibles and co-insurance payments.
Adult
Protective Services (APS) – This program, as required by Ohio
Law, serves to protect and assist adults age sixty (60) and older who
may be victims of abuse, neglect, self-neglect and/or financial
exploitation. Through investigation and assistance with arranging for
services, the intent of the program is to alleviate or prevent further
maltreatment while assuring the application of the least restrictive
means to help keep the elderly safe.
Public Guardian
Program – This program serves individuals age 60+ who are
permanently placed in long term care facilities. The guardian agent's
responsibilities include: making all medical decisions, determining that
living arrangements are appropriate for the clients’ need, securing and
maintaining assistance and/or benefits, assuring clothing and personal
needs are met, working with families to retain their relationship with
our client, establishing funeral arrangements and making end of life
decisions; all in the best interest of each client.
Representative Payee Program - This program helps Summit
County's senior citizens maintain independent living through financial
management assistance. The payee program helps elderly individuals
establish and/or maintain financial stability, avoid possible eviction,
utility disconnects and starvation. While participation in the program
is voluntary, a referral from Summit County Adult Protective Services
and a physician statement of need is required.
