CERT: Community Emergency Response Training

The CERT program has been developed by the Summit County Emergency Management Agency and The American Red Cross Summit County Chapter to better prepare individuals and families of Summit county in the event of manmade or natural disasters. This free course includes disaster preparedness activities as well as fire safety information. Participants who complete all 16 hours of instruction will receive American Red Cross certification in CPR and First Aid.

CERT Curriculum:
ØIdentifying potential hazards in the home and workplace
ØDeveloping plans to prepare families, businesses for disasters
ØLearning skills to help until professional responders arrive
ØDeveloping fire safety skills
ØIdentifying hazardous materials
ØUnderstanding the psychological impact to disaster victims
ØAmerican Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid
ØCommunity Anti-Terrorism Awareness (CAT Eyes)
