Biography

Tim Crawford is a lifetime resident of Norton and Barberton. Born in Loyal Oak, Graduated in 1969 from Barberton High and attended Kent State and Salem College in West Virginia. In 1975 married Debbie Nettle and moved back to Norton in 1976. Tim & Deb have four children: Tim II, Eric, Christy, and Amy. Tim has done an excellent job in his involvement and service to the community. He is Energetic and Industrious and places priority in his commitments to others.

Government Services:
  • 1995 & 2000 - President of Summit County Council
  • 1993-present - Elected and served on Summit County Council
  • 1988 - Elected Mayor of the City of Norton
  • 1986 - Chairman of Norton Charter Review Committee
  • Campaign Chairman for Senator Bob Nettle 21 years
  • 1987 - Chairman of Norton Concerned Citizens
  • Past member of Sub-regional Planning Group for Summit County
  • Served on Mayors Advisory Board to the Supreme Court
  • Served on State of Ohio County Commissioners Judicial Correctional Committee

Community Organizations:

  • 20 year Host of Loyal Oak Cider Festival-brings 20,000 people to Norton, Ohio each year
  • 1980-2008 Board member of Salvation Army
  • 1987-1989, 2000-2002 Chairman of Barberton Salvation Army Board
  • Lay Leader St. Paul's United Methodist Church 1985,1986,1987
  • 1989- President of Norton Kiwanis 17 year member
  • 8 year member of Norton Fire Department & EMS Service
  • 13 year member of Norton Toastmasters
  • Active member of Friends of Norton Library
  • Member of Norton Home & School Association
  • Member of Various Fraternal & Civic Organizations
  • Life Member of NAACP, Norton Historical Society & Summit County Historical Society
  • Coach of Girls fast pitch for 14 years, in 1999 the 16 year & under fast pitch team went to NSA World Series in Tennessee.  In 2000 his fast pitch team earned the right to travel to Orlando Florida NSA World Series   
  • Owner & Operator of the Crawford-Knecht Cider Mill, home of the annual Cider Festival, the last weekend in September
