Biography-Cynthia Sich, Director, Office of Consumer Affairs

Cynthia Sich began her duties as Director of the Summit County Office of Consumer Affairs on July 25, 2005. Cynthia's academic pursuits and career opportunities took her away from Stark County, Ohio where she graduated from high school. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Legal Assistant Studies from Pima Community College and in 1989 began her career in consumer protection enforcement and education with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office Consumer Protection & Advocacy Section. While employed with the office she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Arizona. In November 2001, Cynthia relocated to Wisconsin to manage the State Bureau of Consumer Protection Green Bay Regional Office.

Cynthia is a current Board Member of the National Association of Consumer Agency Administrators (NACAA). NACAA members are front line public and private advocates who work with consumers to solve problems, prosecute offenders, advance legislation, and educate the public. Cynthia also serviced as past President of the North American Consumer Protection Investigators (NACPI) from 1999-2001. NACPI is non-profit organization dedicated to the education and networking of consumer protection investigators from federal, state, county, city, province, district or territory.

As Manager of the Green Bay Regional Consumer Protection Office in the Wisconsin, Cynthia set operation goals and objectives for the consumer protection and weights/measures programs through issues and case prioritization. Managed all aspects of the office including develop effective office policies and procedures, evaluate effectiveness of existing programs and procedures, identify new operational and program initiatives, oversee complaint mediation and enforcement actions of consumer specialists, consumer investigators and w/m inspectors, approve referral investigations to district attorneys, attorney general or federal agencies, and respond to inquiries from the media, public, and legislators. In the Arizona Attorney General’s Tucson Office, Cynthia conducted consumer fraud investigation, including but not limited to, Internet, telecommunication, telemarketing, elder fraud, raffles, advance fee loans, health fraud, fraudulent sales, fundraising, and business opportunities, mediated consumer complaints, interviewed witnesses, testified at administrative hearing, reviewed investigative materials, worked with various law enforcement and social agencies, public speaker, and assisted Assistant Attorney Generals with consumer fraud litigations.
