SUMMIT COUNTY> BOARDS, AGENCIES AND COMMISSIONS
 
The Board of Control was established to administer the awarding of contracts and to make sure that all procedures set forth in Chapter 177 (Board of Control; Contract Procedures) of the Codified Ordinance are followed.
 
The mission of the County of Summit Developmental Disabilities Board is to be a primary community force that enables eligible individuals to work, live, learn, play and participate as equal citizens in their communities.
The general purpose of the HRC is to provide a fair, efficient, and economical system of county employment ensuring that persons are employed without discrimination. Ohio State University Extension, Community Development helps individuals and communities to identify and meet local needs with useful information, educational programs, planning and practical implementation through collaborative efforts with individuals, organizations and groups to enhance the well being of Communities.
 
Summit County Children Services has a long and proud history of serving the needs of the mistreated children of this community. The Summit Soil and Water Conservation District is an environmental and technical agency that responds to landowner concerns. We provide educational materials and programs to aid in wise land use decision making in Summit County.
 
The Summit County Health Department addresses the everyday public health needs of the communities we serve.
 

The Port Authority provides funding and trade advantages to businesses expanding or relocating in or near the county.
The main purpose of the Summit / Akron Solid Waste Management Authority is to develop a long-term solution to the management of solid waste in Summit County, Ohio while simultaneously protecting the Earth.  In an effort to maintain a safe and healthy community, the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board provides a cost effective, efficient system of prevention and care for persons suffering from addiction, and/or mental illness. 
 
The Social Services Advisory Board evaluates the health and human services needs of the community and assess the design and structure of the social service system.
 
 

The Veterans Service Commissions are state agencies ordered by Title 59 of Ohio law and funded by county property tax. We are dedicated to aiding Ohio veterans during their time of need
The Arts and Cultural District Board makes grants to not-for-profit organizations and agencies for activities in the performing arts, the visual arts, and architecture design and preservation which serve the citizens of Summit County and promote cultural and economic development.
