Kidnapping Suspect Arrested On 12/10/2011, a 17 year old female and her male acquaintance visited a residence on Dollar Drive in Coventry Township. The male acquaintance and the resident got into an altercation over a debt. The resident, identified as James Maffei, shot at the male and the male subsequently fled the residence. The 17 year old female was held against her will at the residence by Maffei and a female suspect. The victim was assaulted and her life was threatened while she was held at the Dollar Drive residence. On 12/12/2011 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the victim was able to flee the residence and contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and an arrest warrant for Maffei. As the Sheriff’s Office made entry for the search warrant, Maffei fired a round at Deputies. James Maffei, age 52 of Coventry Township was arrested for kidnapping and booked into the Summit County Jail. Further charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
