CUSTODY GRANTED TO PARENT IN
“KENMORE KIDS” CASE
At a review hearing held today, Summit County Juvenile Court Judge Linda
Tucci Teodosio issued an order granting legal custody of Marissa
Postelthwaite to her father, Brady, marking the first of the children
involved in the “Kenmore Kids” case to be placed back with a parent.
Noting that Postelthwaite and his wife have met all the conditions of
the case plan developed for the purpose of reunification, Judge Teodosio
signed the order moments after issuing her decision from the bench,
allowing Marissa to be returned to her father immediately.
Judge Teodosio also issued an order of protective supervision for the
Children Services Board (CSB), so it can assist in any transitional
issues that might occur as the 11 year girl returns to her father’s
home. A final review hearing on the Postelthwaite case is scheduled for
August 16th at 9:30am.
Judge Teodosio also heard testimony regarding the status of the five
boys still in foster care stemming from this case, but each boy remains
in emergency temporary custody of CSB.
The following dates were also scheduled: A review hearing has been set
for July 14th at 10am for the two oldest boys. A hearing for legal
custody of one of the Shaffer boys to their father, Darrell, is
scheduled for August 13th at 1pm and a trial to rule on CSB’s motion for
custody of the three youngest boys has been set for September 7th at
9am.
