GRANT RECEIVED FROM CLEVELAND BROWNS FOUNDATION

From the moment she became Judge of the Summit County Juvenile Court, Linda Tucci Teodosio has wanted to expand the Court’s library in the detention wing of the William P. Kannel Juvenile Court Center.

Recently, Judge Teodosio’s wish took a giant step toward becoming a reality…with a major assist from the Court’s Women’s Board.

The Women’s Board is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping youths who are involved in the juvenile justice system. The Board sponsors several activities within the Court and extends its philanthropy to Court-related activities whenever it is needed. When the Court approached the Women’s Board to submit a grant proposal to help fund the library project, it was more than happy to oblige.

So, on May 27th, Women’s Board member Ruth Dodridge attended a reception at the Legends Club at Browns Stadium to accept a $5,000 check from the Cleveland Browns Foundation. The funding will be used to purchase books, computers and educational software which will be utilized to implement a school reading program for youths in the detention center. The reading program will become part of the youth’s disposition and probation requirements.

“I cannot thank the Women’s Board and the Cleveland Browns Foundation enough for their efforts on behalf of the Court,” said Judge Teodosio. “The concept is simple: by introducing a reading program to the youths in detention, we hope to improve their reading levels and reading habits. With this vital funding, we can now move forward to putting this project in place.”
